Empowering Confidence
Caring self-help
Ruby House - Watford
Personalised support for young, vulnerable women with learning disabilities or mental health concerns, promoting independence in a safe, comfortable environment.
The supported living services provided at Ruby House, Watford, cater for the unique requirements of each service user. Taking into consideration their needs, wishes and goals, and in consultation with their family or close ones, we create tailored support plans to enable each young woman to live as independently and as confidently as possible.
The building and grounds of Ruby House are well-maintained and, to help in ensuring our young women to feel at home, we support them in taking active responsibility for the upkeep of their accommodation, as well as personalising it with their own belongings. All of the tenancies offered to our service users are on an assured basis to protect their rights and provide them with optimum levels of security.
24hr care, or just a few hours a week, we can provide whatever is needed
We recognise the individual needs of each of our service users and the care required in supporting their mental health conditions or learning disabilities and so devise the appropriate level of personalised support. From a few hours a week to 24-hour care, our trained staff develop, implement and adapt their plans to achieve the best quality of life.
Our aim is for our young women at Ruby House to live as independently as possible, as well as taking an active part in the local community. Our experienced team supports them in so many ways, including:
- employment and training options
- social activities
- community projects
At Protea, our goal is to empower our service users to live full and active lives. To achieve this, we guide and facilitate our service users with independent living skills, such as:
- cooking - learning the skill of basic cookery and the importance of eating well
- budgeting - being aware of the value of money and how to spend wisely
- laundry - understanding why a clean change of clothes and personal hygiene is important
- household chores - learning the importance of keeping a clean living space
We actively encourage them to make decisions and guide them so they fully understand what they are doing and encourage them to adopt flexibility in their day-to-day routines. More than anything, we want our service users to feel valued and that their contribution to themselves and the community is important.
